Cerebral insults after anaesthesia are usually not uncommon. Perioperative cerebral damage (PCD) might lead to a wide range of clinical outcomes that can be divided into three major groups: psychological disturbances (delirium), postoperative cognitive dysfunction and major neurological complications. Perioperative stroke is a major cerebral complication, while cognitive dysfunctions represent the common cerebral complications after anaesthesia.
