The paper presents the first results of a research on the complex of Cecilia Metella and castrum Caetani. One of the paths aims to analyse the connections between historical data (graphic and icono- graphic) and the elaborations derived from integrated survey operations (point clouds and Structure from Motion - SfM). These multidisciplinary applications allow to acquire, quickly and synthetically, the physical and spatial reality of even very complex and layered archaeological contexts such as that of the mausoleum of Cecilia Metella. In this context, the prosperity of the graphic testimonies concerning the mausoleum has allowed for in-depth comparative analysis of the iconographic documentation and its relationship with the physical artifact, acquired with modern techniques of survey, as regards the masonry tech- nique employed and its interpretation. This study therefore aims to update the state of the art of the tomb and to define a possible methodological protocol for the acquisition and critical analysis of the monument.
