La documentazione dei cantieri per l’edilizia annonaria. Il caso del mercato Italia a Roma

The examination of documents relating to the market Italia, in Rome, exemplifies the potential of philological research for a modern building, designed in the 1930s, completed after the Second World War and then transformed into a more recent era. The graphic, administrative and accounting documents kept in municipal archives allow to define the phases of construction, from the authorisation to the execution of projects; they provide a framework for building initiatives. The investigation of available sources also allows to obtain useful information for conservation and maintenance works; it deepens the knowledge of the construction, structural and plant components of the building and, emphasizing the diachronic characters to architecture, it aims at protection and conservation of the built.
