Abstract

Facing the recovering project of ex Bravetta's Residence in Rome, popular due to a history of social discriminations, we found the opportunity to develop a system of "common living" and "sustainable living" to create a new sustainable community model. In that edge of Rome, characterized by being frontier between compact city and urban productive landscape, we choose to do a step backward from the strategy of density to investigate new forms of contemporary suburb's living. SocialFit consist of cohousing and traditional residence, in a progression of common spaces hanging around residents from theii own private environment to sharing common places and intent, also bv working in organized indoor agricultural production. Those elemer- define a building that is a hybrid of social housing and vertical- farm, has a new community lifestyle, having zero-mile production as distinction element. The community project starts offering high energy efficiency housing to people aware of sustainability mixed of simplex and duplex for extended families and different ethnic groups. Thus, it sums temporary housing, as cohousing and social housing, responding to specific dwelling demand of Rome, to design a mixed neighborhood with different steps of environmental awareness. People resident can find common spaces system the place to transform "person to person" relationship made by a e-neighborhood platform of "indoor-farmer organization", in a "door to door" community. The seven floors vertical-farm, inserted in the south fagade, as a landmark in "Valle dei Casali", want to be a bridge between the neighborhood community and the metropolitan area. That Icon in junction to the Living Lab of the Social [Farmer] Network placed at the ground floor of the building, acts as Hub. Connecting a hybnd community of urban social farmers existing in Rome's metropolitan area, that is promoting the appropriation of public fallows territories to transform them in urban agriculture.
