«Penser autrement», ovvero l’impresa filosofica di un antropologo

In the theoretical works of Eduardo Viveiros de Castro I would to stress two main aspects: we find a philosophical position that transfigure the anthropological matter derived from the fieldwork and, on the other hand, we may identify an anthropological position that nourish a long tradition of philosophical reflections. In other words, I would to suggest that in his intellectual challenge we rediscover the entire debate about ontology and epistemology. Against the hermeneutics tradition of anthropology and against the platonic and cartesian philosophy, the concept of immanence leads the brasilian anthropologue to change perspective on philosophical interpretation and onthological dimension of social facts. But I also would to suppose that the same perspective might be the origin of anthropology’s death.
