The «powerful banality» of Revelation. Meaning and Methodological Status of the Everyday in the Phenomenology of Elsewhere. Reading the idea of the ‘banality’ of revelation as a sign of Marion’s fidelity to the phenomenological method, this essay focuses on the intertwining between banality and everydayness. The latter is interpreted as a specific form of temporality. The monotonous repetition of the day-by-day, which is usually understood as a nihilistic experience of lack of meaning, can be understood as a paradox in a logical sense and, more specifically, as the paradoxical echo of the eschatological time in the ordinary one. As a result, everydayness appears to be an ambiguous doubling of time and reveals itself to be the form of temporality proper to a revelation.
