The case of the Cryptoporticus in Sessa Aurunca, a missed opportunity

The aim of this report is to investigate the events of the Roman Cryptoporticus in Sessa Aurunca, Caserta. The archeological complex rather than representing a fruitful example of the protection and enhancement of our heritage, appears to be a missed opportunity. Starting from a careful analysis of literature, the aim of this research is to bring attention to the artifact, investigate and identify knowledge cues for urban history and the reconnection with a denied and forgotten piece of city.

Il contributo proposto intende indagare le vicende del criptoportico romano di Sessa Aurunca, Caserta. Il complesso archeologico più che rappresentare un fruttuoso esempio di tutela e valorizzazione del nostro patrimonio, appare come un’occasione mancata. Partendo da un’attenta analisi della letteratura, la presente ricerca vuole portare all’attenzione il manufatto aurunco, indagare ed individuare spunti di conoscenza per la storia urbana e la riconnessione con un brano di città negato.
