Abstract
Piero Coppo (1940–1921), psychiatrist, psychotherapist, contributed with his studies and research to the theoret- ical and methodological advancement of ethnopsychia- try and to the recognition of its applicative potential. His continuous dialogue with cultural anthropology shed light on common ancestors and overlooked affini- ties among the two disciplines. During his whole career and especially in the last decade, Coppo encouraged the foundation of a “radical” ethnopsychiatry (aware of and deeply connected with its political implications), sensi- tive to the transformation brought by globalization and open to new possibilities of listening and intervening, devised to be used in case conceptualization and treatment planning in different cultural contexts, “here and elsewhere”.
