Denied to the typology, the architecture of the South obtains from the singularity of place its uniqueness, of which the elevation represents the expression: a mimetic facade that goes to embed itself into the landscape reproposing the visible texture and the hidden rhythm. If the facade establishes a relationship with the aesthetics of the landscape, its underlying themes define other significant relationships. The logical order of the membranes, the geometric clarity and the rigor of the relations expressed by an ancient research for proportion refer to an architecture that is measured and that is measure itself of the territory and its morphology.

Abstract

Denied to the typology, the architecture of the South obtains from the singularity of place its uniqueness, of which the elevation represents the expression: a mimetic facade that goes to embed itself into the landscape reproposing the visible texture and the hidden rhythm. If the facade establishes a relationship with the aesthetics of the landscape, its underlying themes define other significant relationships. The logical order of the membranes, the geometric clarity and the rigor of the relations expressed by an ancient research for proportion refer to an architecture that is measured and that is measure itself of the territory and its morphology. In turn, the thickness of the facade expresses the relationship with the environment and interprets in a poetic way the climatic conditions, intervening on the control of sunlight, on the voids in the wall faces, on the determination of the shadow. In this way facade-proportion-thickness with the corresponding terms of relation landscape-territory-environment define a double triad attributable to plots and traits of the South of Italy and that however also belong to other Southern parts of Europe.
