The goal of statistical matching, at a “macro” level, is the estimation of a joint distribution having observed only samples from its marginals. In general, the problem is complicate, due to the lack of identifiability of the joint distribution. As a consequence, an intrinsic matching error will affect every matching procedure. A measure of the (maximal) matching error is introduced, in the presence of possible constraints on the joint distribution function, and its estimation on the basis of sample data is dealt with.

Abstract
The goal of statistical matching, at a “macro” level, is the estimation of a joint distribution having observed only samples from its marginals. In general, the problem is complicate, due to the lack of identifiability of the joint distribution. As a consequence, an intrinsic matching error will affect every matching procedure. A measure of the (maximal) matching error is introduced, in the presence of possible constraints on the joint distribution function, and its estimation on the basis of sample data is dealt with.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
