The article deals with the “strategos” of Sicily Mousilikes, protagonist of one of the miracula post mortem reported in the Life of the Constantinopolitan patriarch Ignatius ascribed to Niketas-David Paphlagon. The author of this article critically analyzes the assimilation, first affirmed by Michele Amari, between the above episode and a historical event which is mentioned only in an Arab source, reconstructing the career of the homonymous historical figure, who is mentioned in documentary and sigillographic sources: he suggests that this particular episode of the Ignatian Bios may be the result of a conscious slight distortion of an historical event by Niketas-David Paphlagon for his own ideological purposes.
