This contribution reconstructs the international trajectories of surrealist and neo-romantic artists towards the Gallery L’Obelisco in Rome.It highlights the commercial channels set up by its owners, Irene Brin and Gaspero del Corso, with the United States, and in particular with the circle of Hartford modernists (James Thrall Soby and Everett “Chick” Austin Jr.). The promotional strategies of the del Corso couple are then verified in relation to the Venice Biennale of 1954.
