Francuzskie pis’ma, Tainstvennaja strana e Strana Amazonok sulle pagine del Perevodčik-Tercüman di IsmailGasprinskij

Gasprinskii’s (1851-1914) literary and journalistic activity, over the years has had the goal of a Russian Muslim’s cultural revival, possible through a process of secularization in the educational sphere, and the redefinition of a Tatar identity, possible only in dialogue with the Russian one. The literary works published by Ismail Gasprinskii on the pages of the bilingual Tatar-Russian newspaper Perevodchik-Tercüman (1883-1917) thus acquire popular value, becoming an instrument of cultural struggle, aimed at social change. The short novels that will be briefly presented, Francuzskye pisma (1887-1889), Tainstvennaya strana (1903-1905) and Strana Amazonok (1890-1891), also open to stimulating considerations on the contact between one's own culture and language and that of the others, according to the duality that characterizes Gasprinskii.
