The article examines threads in the philosophy of Aldo Giorgio Gargani tied to the idea of the crisis of reason. His work opens significant venues to the uncovering of the creative powers of reason against the conceptions that wish to determine its progress in historicist and relativistic ways. Gargani's work is placed in the European intellectual context of the Seventies and is further compared to Foucault and Cavell. It can contribute to enrich the contemporary discussion around the inheritance of Wittgenstein's philosophy.
