The paper focuses on the analysis of archaeological evidence and epigraphic artifacts of S. Nicola de’ Calcarario in Rome unearthed by G. Marchetti Longhi between 1920 and 1930 in the Area Sacra of Largo Argentina. This re-examination of structures and scripts was an opportunity for a rereading of the construction phases of the church in the 12th century as well as for an epigraphic and paleographic analysis of two inscriptions of the same period.
