We encourage young researchers, the readers of this journal and any oyster stakeholders to advocate for evidence-based arguments in biological classification, rather than simply following tradition or impositions and speculations by those who resist progress in the field of systematics. With this letter we want to encourage scientific discussion on improving the scientific classification of oysters and reiterate support of scientific debate in all its constructive forms and within the bound of evidence-based science.

Abstract

We encourage young researchers, the readers of this journal and any oyster stakeholders to advocate for evidence-based arguments in biological classification, rather than simply following tradition or impositions and speculations by those who resist progress in the field of systematics. With this letter we want to encourage scientific discussion on improving the scientific classification of oysters and reiterate support of scientific debate in all its constructive forms and within the bound of evidence-based science.
