Abstract
The ancient world attributes a symbolic value to the limits of private and public spaces, particularly the entrances and the doors of buildings. In the Mediterranean world Roman architects pay great attention to the design and execution of thresholds and gates. These elements, surrounded by a sacral halo, are intended to concentrate in themself meaning and function of the entire building, as it is evident in the case of the Roman and Ottoman palaces of power. Obviously, this synecdoche also refers to the otherworldly sphere.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
