The figure and the works of Mario Baroni are significant in the context of industrial structures in reinforced concrete. He is one of the most illustrious representatives of the concrete engineers who, at the beginning of the 20th Century, allowed the affirmation and the diffusion in Italy of the new technique in the field of large industrial and civil structures, through research, the proposal of patents, the excellent and recognized didactic activity, and the tireless and high professional activity. The research carried out over the years on his theoretical and practical contribution together with the direct survey and instrumental investigations on several works allow to reconstruct his biographical profile and to highlight some main features inherent to his projects for large-span roofs, especially industrial ones.
