Tra tradizione e innovazione: impulsi e ostacoli verso una produzione edilizia industrializzata nelle opere di Giorgio Baroni

With the introduction of new building materials between the end of 19th and the beginning of 20th Century, it is possible to identify a progressive transformation of the Italian construction culture. In this framework, it is significant to investigate how engineers managed the gap between progress in the construction techniques and backwardness of the building production technology. Among the others, during the thirties Giorgio Baroni experimented innovative thin shell structures for the needs of industrial buildings, optimizing the building production processes within the traditional nature of the Italian construction site technology. The paper aims to identify methods and solutions towards the industrialization of building production in the work of Giorgio Baroni in the background of the Italian construction culture of the early 20th Century.
