La pendice meridionale del Palatino tra la casa di Augusto e la chiesa di S. Anastasia

After the excavations by G. Carettoni and the fundamental study by I. Iacopi and G. Tedone, numerous reconstructive proposals have followed one another regarding the complex of the house of Augustus and the southern slope of the Palatine. The reconstruction of this monumental complex is still at the center of a lively debate. The investigations carried out in this area as part of the “domus Palatina” project of the Dipartimento di Scienze dell’Antichità di Sapienza Università di Roma have made available new data that can be brought into the debate. Structures have been documented which, for the first time, allow to propose a reading, articulated in the different phases, of the architectures that supported the slope of the hill and on which new reconstructive proposals are based.
