The presented study deals with defining the main criticalities of the HBIM (Heritage Building Information Modeling) trying to define the implications deriving from the application of parametric modeling to historical heritage. The research investigates the possibility of following a protocol linked to the management of cultural heritage, both as regards the integration with methods of massiva data acquisition, and with respect to the modeling process. Currently, the construction of HBIM models, therefore the parametrization of realities is characterized by many variations, is very complex. This is due to the not always recognizable geometric space and the need to prepare systematic readings of the historical building, to identify an information system that associates elements with data able to document the constructive, material, and technological character. Understanding the built historical heritage means to integrate heterogeneous information, stored from different sources, archives and supports, making the characterization of digital models with BIM tools extremely difficult. Access to such information, still mostly linked to paper, has been further aggravated by the lockdown situation the world has experienced in recent months. The study focuses on the possibilities of digitized information within the complex BIM process which, on the one hand, increases the interoperability on which the whole process is based. On the other, make a great contribution to the transparency aspect. This procedure preserves the nature of the information and streamlines the process of linking the data to the model.
