Between 2000 and 2005, research dedicated to the reconstruction of ancient rural landscapes in the area of the ancient Sibaritide was carried out in collaboration between the Chair of Archeologia della Magna Grecia of the University of Calabria and the former Soprintendenza Archeologica della Calabria. The research was focused on two large areas, corresponding to the territories of present-day municipalities of Amendolara and Castrovillari. The collected data have been managed in an Archaeological Information System. The history of the rural population in the two areas shows some similarities in terms of development and in regard to the history and distribution of the different types of settlements: villages, farms, and villas. However, if we analyse the data in detail and compare the landscapes’ development over time, we are faced with landscapes with very different characteristics.

Abstract
However, if we analyse the data in detail and compare the landscapes’ development over time, we are faced with landscapes with very different characteristics.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
