Un cantiere aperto. Studi e progetti sui corali di Sant’Agostino di Siena della Biblioteca centrale degli Agostiniani italiani di Viterbo

The paper intends to offer the first news regarding the project of description and enhancement of eighteen choirbooks, manuscripts and printed editions, kept at the Central Library of the Italian Augustinians in Viterbo. These volumes originally belonged to the friary of Sant’Agostino in Siena; later transferred to Santa Maria in Selva located in Borgo a Buggiano (Pistoia), they reached Viterbo at the beginning of the 21st century. The precious illuminated decoration of the choirbooks and their complex history constitute an essential element to reconstruct the life of the Augustinian friary in Siena. Therefore, the Central Library of the Italian Augustinians has decided to make available to users and scholars the description of these liturgical volumes in the Manus Online database. The Library is also planning a restoration of the books and their integral digitization.
