The Bronze Age settlement of Coppa Nevigata provides us with several pieces of evidence related to food processing, storage and consumption over the whole Bronze Age. The spatial distribution analysis of the diverse structures devoted to these activities and their connection with specific areas of the settlement and/or dwellings allows us to figure out the social dimension underlying various patterns of food storage and consumption and the intertwined symbolic aspects. Moreover, a diachronic perspective sheds light on the substantial transformations that practices of food storage and shared consumption underwent over the Bronze Age. Going beyond the formal aspects of these practices, the authors discuss the meaning of these transformations in relation to the ideological and social changes that marked this period.

Abstract

The Bronze Age settlement of Coppa Nevigata provides us with several pieces of evidence related to food processing, storage and consumption over the whole Bronze Age.
