Architects should improve reality by grasping the potential of every place. With a few simple gestures, the architectural studio MADE associati has transformed the former centre for the differentiated collection of urban waste (C. A.R. D.) into a park area named Parco Giacomini by the municipal administration. The existing structure is developed following the different heights of the land. Taking advantage of this peculiarity of the site, the designers transformed the retaining wall into an area equipped for games and activities. The key compositional element of this project is the use of colour, used both on the vertical elements and on the paving, which is emptied from time to time to create green flowerbeds. The Treviso studio, through cutting, emptying and repaving, has not only given the city back a space that belongs to it, but has paid great attention to the sustainability of the project, avoiding demolition and waste production and reusing all the available material.
