Hotel Asmundo di Gisira. Studio Gum

Tourists staying at the Asmundo di Gisira residence continue to travel through the myths and legends of the city of Catania. The house where travellers stay is located in one of the eighteenth-century buildings in Piazza Mazzini in the heart of the Sicilian city. The interior design, by Studio Gum architects, aims to establish a continuous dialogue between modern and antique: no era prevails over the other, each element enhances the other, creating an elegant and welcoming atmosphere. Here, architecture, art and design find not only an aesthetic value, but also a narrative role. With the contribution of craftsmen and artists, each room is designed to tell the story of a myth. The stories of Colapesce, Proserpina, Uzeta, Aci and Galatea, Eliodoro, Billonia and Sant'Agata become tangible material. In this project it is clear that architecture is not only technical, through form it is possible to transmit knowledge and arouse emotions.
