Thanks to a recent survey in the store-rooms of the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia in Rome it was possible to identify a fragment of a painted jar dating back to the first half of the seventh century B.C. and attributable to the so-called "Narce Painter". The excavation number shown on the piece made it possible to understand that the jar was recovered during the excavations conducted by G.Q. Giglioli in the sanctuary of Portonaccio in 1916. The finding, although of a residual nature, seems to constitute a precious testimony of the first occupation phases of the plateau on which this important sanctuary developed.

Abstract
Thanks to a recent survey in the store-rooms of the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia in Rome it was possible to identify a fragment of a painted jar dating back to the first half of the seventh century B.C. and attributable to the so-called "Narce Painter". The excavation number shown on the piece made it possible to understand that the jar was recovered during the excavations conducted by G.Q. Giglioli in the sanctuary of Portonaccio in 1916. The finding, although of a residual nature, seems to constitute a precious testimony of the first occupation phases of the plateau on which this important sanctuary developed.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
