Previous investigations have shown that the extent of myocardial hypertrophy and fibrosis,1,2 as well as the degree of haemodynamic derangement in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) are connected to the activation of measures of myocardial inflammation,1 including nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kB) which is a transcription factor regulating expression of genes that play a major role in inflammation, cell growth, and apoptosis.
