Similitudini e differenze. Ciudad Universitaria de Madrid e la Nuova Città Universitaria di Roma

In this contribute I will like to do some reflections about similitudes and differences between Ciudad Universitaria de Madrid and Sapienza Università di Roma. Although the extension is quite different, 42 ha in Madrid and 220.000 mq in Rome, the urban planning shows some analogies that I will like to explain. There are also so many similitudes in the architecture of the buildings and the importance given to the construction and technologic problems. For the planning of both of them, there were formed two groups of young modern architects. The Italian group was directed by Marcello Piacentini and the Spanish group by Modesto Lopez Otero. And also the problems caused by the war were similar in the construction of both of these complexes.
