Le attestazioni di duruj- nell’iscrizione di Bisotun. Un nuovo caso di Ringkomposition?

Through a systematic analysis of a largely philological-textual nature, the aim of this paper is to verify whether it is possible to identify a ratio in the distribution of the different types of construction of the Old Persian verb duruj- ‘to lie, to deceive’. These occur exclusively in the Bisotun inscription, both in the main text and in the legends that identify the so-called “liar kings”. In particular, the paper considers the differences between the nominative construction, on the one hand, and two-place constructions (with the genitive and the accusative respectively), on the other. Furthermore, the identification of a new case of Ringkomposition is proposed.
