Family-medical communication in intensive care plays a key role in building the necessary therapeutic alliance.The Sars-Cov2 (Covid19) pandemic has created a further obstacle to this relationship. Doctors and relatives have been deprived of physical contact, important to express emotions and empathy. In February 2021, we opened our intensive care department (Sant'Andrea Hospital in Rome, Italy) for families of the victims of Covid19. Then families filled out, voluntarily and anonymously, a short questionnaire about their degree of satisfaction.
