Spatial grafts

Architecture today is moving towards an interregnum between opposing slogans: ecological mimesis and the practice of reducing demolition waste. With this beautiful interior in Prague, Alepreda seems to fully subscribe to the second approach. Sustainable both economically and in terms of production of construction rubble, the project redefines the interior layout of the home through an operation of grafting to add and rewrite, with and in space. The white stepped volumes are arranged free of constrictions in the meanders of the house: their shape and colour distinguish them from the existing planimetric fabric and create high shelves for storage. The soft surfaces of the apartment are fitted with little furniture, with the exception of the service areas, which are fitted with finishes and furnishings in more playful colours. Stepped volumes apartment proves to be an interesting transfiguration that reinterprets and incorporates the existing habitat in a new configuration: an exercise in interrupted writing as a possible theory of architecture

L’architettura oggi si muove verso un interregno tra slogan agli antipodi: la mimesi ecologica e la prassi della riduzione degli scarti da demolizione. Alepreda con questo bell’interno a Praga sembra aderire in toto al secondo approccio. Sostenibile sia economicamente che in termini di produzione di macerie edili, il progetto ridefinisce il layout interno della casa attraverso un’operazione di innesto per aggiungere e riscrivere, con e nello spazio. I volumi gradonati bianchi si dispongono liberi da costrizioni nei meandri della casa: conformazione e colore li distinguono dal tessuto planimetrico preesistente e creano ripiani alti per riporre oggetti. Le superfici tenui dell’alloggio sono allestite con pochi mobili, fanno eccezione gli ambienti di servizio muniti di finiture e arredi dalle tinte più giocose. Stepped volumes apartment si rivela una interessante trasfigurazione che reinterpreta e incorpora l’habitat esistente in una configurazione inedita: un esercizio di scrittura tra scritture interrotte come teoria possibile dell’architettura
