Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressive and irreversible neurodegenerative disorder that causes a decline of cognitive functions and a deterioration of behavioral and social performance. According to current estimations, AD is considered the prevalent cause of dementia, accounting for 60% and 80% of cases every year. The etiology of the disease is related to both genetic and environmental factors, making AD a multifactorial disorder, with a major classification as late-onset AD and early-onset AD.
