The history of Piazza delle Cinque Scole in the Jewish ghetto of Rome, the boundary between the menagerie and the city, is characterized by repeated transformation that, between the 19th and the 20th, completely transformed the area from how it had been in previous centuries. This particular condition has bring us to conduct a preventative interpretation of the urban modification, whit the aim of protecting the preservation of the cultural identity of the place and of finding new compatible uses. The front of the bock, up to the last decades of the nineteen century, faced the dense urban fabric which was replaced by the creation of new buildings which are modulated on dimensional and spacial values entirely unrelated to the previous characteristic of the area. The need to recover the portion of the block has neither found a corresponding intervention plans or project proposal up to now. This has left unsolved a void inside the Roman Ghetto, which we can term a lacuna.
