Roma, Stadio Flaminio (Pier Luigi e Antonio Nervi, 1956-59): aspetti metodologici e finalità del Piano di conservazione

The subject of this contribution is the development of a conservation plan propedeutic to the reuse project of the Flaminio Stadium in Rome. Designed by the engineer Pier Luigi Nervi and his son, the architect Antonio Nervi (1957-58), the Flaminio Stadium was built on the occasion of the XVII Olympics in Rome (1960) and inaugurated in 1959. The structure, abandoned for years and subjected to numerous invasive interventions, presents a series of complex issues with many levels of criticality. The conservation plan should be understood as a methodological tool addressing the multifaceted aspects required to analyse the conditions of the architectural organism. Synthesizing the interdisciplinary expertise, the guidelines resulting from the thorough knowledge project of the place and a suitable conservation policy shall steer the recovery and restoration interventions
