Cadáveres en las bibliotecas: el delito y la desacralización de un espacio.

In Spanish-American literature, the library as a subject and narrative space is inevitably related to the figure of Jorge Luis Borges and his texts. However, his vision of a place where all the knowledge of the universe is accumulated, until coinciding in the famous íncipit of “The Library of Babel”, is related to other representations, in dialogue with that model. In some 20th century novels this place will be violated by criminal events that make it a space inhabited by surprising contradictions and paradoxes. In this article, I will analyse four novels to show various types of transformation and transgression, with respect to the traditional idea of the library and the Borgean model.
