The Achelous Project, archaeological mission of the University of Bologna in collaboration with the Sapienza University of Rome, aims to rediscover the ancient city of Aquae Tauri in the territory of Civitavecchia (Rome). The research takes place in the top area of the Ficoncella Hill where, thanks to surveys, geophysical prospections, and stratigraphic excavations, in 2017-2018 a large religious building was identified. During the 2019 campaign, part of a residential structure, dating back to the beginning of the first century B.C., was located. In room 7.3 of this building, a cocciopesto floor decorated with lithic inserts was found. This discovery constitutes an important evidence to reconstruct a fragment of the ancient city of Aquae Tauri.

Abstract
This discovery constitutes an important evidence to reconstruct a fragment of the ancient city of Aquae Tauri.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
