The purpose of this article is to analyse some terminological issues surrounding the study of the malicious use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) and their impact on international security and peace. Secondly, it will address the characteristics of cyberspace and cyber activities in order to establish commonalities with other domains and particularities that require a more original approach. Finally, it will briefly review the work being developed at the United Nations to address international security in the context of the use of ICTs.
