Un'architettura mutevole posizionata sul margine. Il progetto di Maurizio Sacripanti per la Città Universitaria di Roma

The essay tells the story of Maurizio Sacripanti’s project for the Città Universitaria and for the expansion of the Political Science, Statistical Sciences and Biology faculties (1992-95). The ideation process is reconstructed through the examination of archival materials: the intentionality and the design outcomes are compared with the problems to which solution was provided, and with the overall trajectory of the designer’s work. This is one of his last projects: the themes of his affection appear, but there are also here a particular interest in the urban theme. The investigation of the documents also allowed to describe the administrative impasse that led to the failed construction of the project: the symptom of a general change of scenario that, at the end of the 20th century, will see the emergence of increasingly difficult conditions for the project of Architecture.

Il saggio ripercorre la storia del progetto di Maurizio Sacripanti per la Città Universitaria e per l'ampliamento delle facoltà di Scienze Politiche, Scienze Statistiche e Biologia (1992-95). Il processo ideativo viene ricostruito attraverso l'esame dei materiali d'archivio: le intenzionalità e gli esiti progettuali vengono confrontati con i problemi a cui si è data soluzione e con la traiettoria complessiva del lavoro del progettista. Questo è uno dei suoi ultimi progetti: compaiono i suoi temi d'affezione, ma c'è qui anche un particolare interesse per il tema urbano. L'indagine dei documenti ha anche permesso di descrivere l'impasse amministrativa che ha portato alla mancata costruzione del progetto: il sintomo di un generale cambiamento di scenario che, alla fine del XX secolo, vedrà l'emergere di condizioni sempre più difficili per il progetto di Architettura.
