Abstract
For a new history of the Roman religion, between communication and individualism · Jörg Rüpke’s Pantheon is one of the most significant and stimulating works that appeared over the last few years in the field of religious studies. It develops and sums up many years of study and research as well as the work as leader in many projects and research teams, including the recent erc Advanced Project lar (Lived Ancient Religion). By delving into the origin and development of Roman religion through space (the ever growing territory controlled, influenced or simply related to Rome) and time (from the Iron Age to Late Antiquity) R. aims at considering the more general human process that is religion as a result of contacts, exchanges, migrations, and the continuous shift between tradition and innovation as well as between continuity and discontinuity. The main foci of the book are two, i.e. communication as a driving force for religious processes and the individual dimension of religion (and religious agency).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
