Le Congrès d’Histoire de l’Art del 1921 nella storia dell’arte francese e italiana

The article focuses on the art history congress that was held in Paris in the autumn of 1921. In addition to describing the structure and characters of the conference, the text attempts to understand the value it assumed within the history of French and Italian art. Through the analysis of the context in which the candidacy of France took shape and the examination of the contributions presented by the Italian delegation, we will try to focus on the function that the organization and participation in the congress played in the history of the discipline of the two Countries. The comparison with the chronologically neighboring congresses will also allow to investigate the value of the congress in the history of CIHA.

L’articolo ha quale oggetto il congresso di storia dell’arte che si tenne a Parigi nell’autunno del 1921. Oltre a descrivere la struttura e i caratteri del convegno, il testo tenta di comprendere il valore che esso assunse all’interno della storia dell’arte francese e italiana. Attraverso l’analisi del contesto all’interno del quale prese forma la candidatura della Francia e la disamina dei contributi presentati della delegazione italiana si cercherà di mettere a fuoco la funzione che l’organizzazione e la partecipazione al congresso svolsero nella storia della disciplina dei due Paesi. Il confronto con i congressi cronologicamente limitrofi permetterà altresì di indagare il valore del congresso nella storia del CIHA.
