Women's studies and gender studies are nowadays two of the main historiographical trends all over the world. Some recent works on early moder Italian women argue for the importance of contribution of women, as writers and as readers, to the cultural debate during the Counter-Reformation. This essay analyzes those recent essays with a view of shedding light on original and important outcomes.
