The recent essay by Vito Cardone, the life and work of Monge (1), reopen an issue that I was hoping to start well and that solution, however, is now in danger of being brought back to the origin. The question is, to put it briefly: Gaspard Monge can be considered to be the creative genius of Descriptive Geometry as it is understood today, that is, as that set of theories and procedures that govern the graphical representation? I think not and I think instead that the contribution of Monge, while valuable, should be compared to that of many other scientists and artists who have contributed, from the distant past to the present day, to build the heritage that we have inherited.

Abstract
The recent essay by Vito Cardone, the life and work of Monge (1), reopen an issue that I was hoping to start well and that solution, however, is now in danger of being brought back to the origin. The question is, to put it briefly: Gaspard Monge can be considered to be the creative genius of Descriptive Geometry as it is understood today, that is, as that set of theories and procedures that govern the graphical representation? I think not and I think instead that the contribution of Monge, while valuable, should be compared to that of many other scientists and artists who have contributed, from the distant past to the present day, to build the heritage that we have inherited.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
