Beyond human – new Paradigms of active collaboration in Design | Oltre l’umano: nuovi Paradigmi di collaborazione attiva nel Design

The current period in history calls for a radical shift of the reigning paradigm, to allow us reconnecting with the rhythms and the complex functioning of the ecosystem in a broader sense. As it was the case in the post-war years, it is today the task and responsibility of designers to take up this ever-important challenge, first by returning to the act of “making”, as their distinctive register of operation, and also by working both to recover the methods and tools of their own craft and to expand the scope of their knowledge into other disciplines, so as to be able to work in increasing synergy with other spheres of knowledge and application. Only by restoring their utopian enthusiasm and starting over from experimental activities, in addition to closely observing and analysing the processes they have set in motion, can designers construct new visions and theories, first imagining possible scenarios for a truly sustainable world and then giving these visions tangible form, in order to provide effective benefit to the global public.

Il periodo storico che stiamo vivendo richiede un cambio radicale di paradigma che ci permetta di riconnetterci con i ritmi ed il complesso funzionamento dell’ecosistema, a più largo spettro. Al pari di quanto avvenuto nel secondo dopoguerra, spetta al designer il compito di cogliere questa importante sfida, in primis ritrovando nel “fare” la propria cifra distintiva, ma anche riappropriandosi di metodi e di strumenti propri e ampliando le proprie conoscenze in riferimento ad altri campi disciplinari, così da poter lavorare sempre più in sinergia con le altre sfere del sapere. Solo recuperando il suo slancio utopico e partendo dall’attività sperimentale e dall’attenta osservazione e analisi dei processi da lui messi in atto, il designer può infatti costruire nuove visioni e teorie, contribuendo in primo luogo ad immaginare possibilità per un mondo realmente sostenibile, e successivamente a rendere tali visioni tangibili ed effettivamente fruibili a beneficio della più estesa collettività.
