The Teatro Stabile of Turin's decentralization actions, carried out by Giuliano Scabia at the turn of 1969 and 1970, are here contextualized against the socio-political backdrop of the workers mobilizations of the Italian "Hot Autumn" of 1969. Scabia's work is not only useful in order to historically frame the impact of the 1968 movement on theater, but also in order to bring to our attention some relevant issues concerning contemporary participatory art.
