A compartmental simulation model was developed in order to simulate the behaviour of a Draft-Tube Baffled (DTB) crystallizer for the production of sodium perborate (SPB). A set of five suitably interconnected compartments, each featuring either the perfectly mixed or the plug-flow type was adopted. The model was implemented in the gPROMS process modeling environment and validated against data relevant to an industrial plant. The compartmental model provides satisfactory predictions of the experimental CSD, whilst a CMSMPR simulation model appears inadequate.

Abstract
A compartmental simulation model was developed in order to simulate the behaviour of a Draft-Tube Baffled (DTB) crystallizer for the production of sodium perborate (SPB). A set of five suitably interconnected compartments, each featuring either the perfectly mixed or the plug-flow type was adopted. The model was implemented in the gPROMS process modeling environment and validated against data relevant to an industrial plant. The compartmental model provides satisfactory predictions of the experimental CSD, whilst a CMSMPR simulation model appears inadequate.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
