Rapporti diplomatici tra il Regno delle Due Sicilie e gli Stati Uniti d’America (1816 – 1834)

The young United States of America since the Vienna Congress began to launch, in the Mediterranean countries, formal and informal diplomatic activities that followed, as often happens in this field, trade routes. The first Italian pre-unification state with which the USA started such activities was the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. Why? The choice, quite compulsively, was the need to request compensation for ships confiscated from the Murattian kingdom. The development of relations between the two countries started with a dispute.

I giovani Stati Uniti d’America, nati dalla rivoluzione, sin dai tempi del Congresso di Vienna iniziarono ad avviare, nei paesi del Mediterraneo, attività diplomatiche formali ed informali che seguivano, come spesso succede in questo ambito, le rotte commerciali. Il primo stato preunitario con cui gli USA avviarono tali attività fu il Regno delle Due Sicilie. A motivare la scelta, fu abbastanza coattivamente, la necessità di richiedere dei risarcimenti per dei bastimenti confiscati dal regno murattiano. Lo sviluppo delle relazioni tra i due paesi prese il via da una disputa.
