Two altars with Egyptian gorge from the city-walls of Motya · During the xxxv-xxxviii seasons of excavations carried out in years 2015-2018 along the north-eastern side of the fortifications, by Rome «La Sapienza» University Expedition to Motya, two incense altars were found. The discovery of these cult devices represents an unex- pected result, useful to understand the settlement dynamics of the north-eastern coast of the island, which was used as a burial area both in Prehistoric and in Phoenician periods and preserved its orig- inal destination even after the construction of the city-walls.
