Il corpo politico delle città

Piazza Navona is only an extra-ordinary fragment of a process that travels parallel to the spread of the virus or to its latent and omnipresent threat, and that does not concern the passing phenomenon of custom, but the possibility of radically rethinking the historic city as a common heritage, even in its ordinary dimension: «physical place inhabited in the hic et nunc» capable of «welcoming the prosaic and mythicized life of the everyday city.» (Raitano, 2020) In the face of the temporary mummification of the whole city, we re- realised that the main difference between the center and the margins is the degree of separation, measured in terms of tangible physical components, between the public space and the private space, between the polis and the oikos, between the space of political action and the space of reproductive life.

Piazza Navona è solo un frammento extra-ordinario di un processo che viaggia parallelamente alla propagazione del virus o alla sua laten- te e onnipresente minaccia, e che non riguarda il passeggero fenomeno di costume, ma la possibilità di ripensare radicalmente la città storica come patrimonio comune, anche nella sua veste ordinaria: «luogo fisico abitato nell’hic et nunc» capace di «accogliere la vita prosaica e demitizzata della città di tutti i giorni». (Raitano, 2020) Di fronte alla momentanea mummificazione dell’intera città, ci siamo accorti che il principale discrimine tra il centro e i margini è il grado di separazione, misurato in termini di componenti fisiche tangibili, tra lo spazio pubblico e lo spazio privato, tra la polis e l’oikos, tra lo spazio dell’azione politica e lo spazio della vita riproduttiva.
