The BNA (Royal Institute of Dutch Architects) Research Project ‘Stad van de Toekomst’ (City of the Future) is motivated by urgent social and local tasks in urban areas, varying from of housing demand, social inclusiveness, new economy, climate adaptation, and the transitions in the areas of energy, mobility, circularity and digitalization, and matches the challenges of a future cohesion policy. Based on future scenarios, the aim and intended results of this study are to obtain insight into central and local questions in order to inform integral area development from systems to networks. In addition, also transitions to other spatial conditions are addressed. Such insights can have significance for the developments of a number of locations, and contribute to the policy of local and central governments. Ten different multidisciplinary design teams from practice working on five Dutch cities (Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Den Haag, Utrecht and Eindhoven) conduct this design research project. Their ideas are tested in local ateliers, including local stakeholders and experts from municipalities and practice. The conclusions are presented at plenary project meetings with local and national authorities and consultants, and will thus play a role in the final decision-making on a national level.

Abstract
The conclusions are presented at plenary project meetings with local and national authorities and consultants, and will thus play a role in the final decision-making on a national level.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
